New Park City Trails

This spring Park City was the world’s first recipient of the IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association) Gold status.   It’s quite an honor, but no excuse to slow down on our trail building.   New for 2012 are two fantastic single-track trails: Pinecone and Sam’s.  Here's what Mountain Trails has to say: Pinecone.

New York Times recommends Treasure Mountain Inn

It’s fitting the New Your Times Travel Guide for Park City begins and ends on Main Street, the heart of Historic Park City and the home of Treasure Mountain Inn.   The NYT article 36 Hours of Park City begins with shopping on Main at Flight & Cake Boutiques and ends with an affordable night’s stay at the Treasure Mountain Inn.

Park City Snow Report

Not enough snow, not so fast!  Park City's amazing snow making crews are second only to mother nature in their ability to create piles of our favorite white stuff.  Not a lot of POW right now, but the groomers have been fantastic and the sunny weather can't be beat.   Check out this great video of the current snow conditions:  Video

Winter Solstice

Historic Park City celebrated the Winter Solstice by bringing a little extra light to the darkest day of the year.   Mother Nature’s addition was a nice dusting of new snow.   Thanks to Santa for also making an early appearance at the second annual electric light parade up Main Street.   If he’s smart, he’ll stick around for a little skiing before his busy weekend.

Traveler's Insurance Commercial

Thanks to Traveler's Insurance for returning Historic Bark [sic] City to its rightful owners.  Travelers Insurance, with the help of Smuggler Films and some Hollywood magic, brought all the best things to Main Street--dogs (lots and lots of dogs), early snow (not all of it real), an old fashioned charcuterie, Christmas, and most noticeably, people and activity.  All of this in early November...

Halloween in Historic Park City

Halloween has become a true, quirky tradition for Park City locals of all ages and species. Beginning at 3 p.m. on Halloween, Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Heber Avenue to the Wasatch Brew Pub to allow for parents and their costumed cuties to visit local businesses for trick-or-treating, which goes until about 5:30 p.m.

Happy June

There is a saying among locals, 'you come to Park City for the winter, but you stay because of the summer.'   After a long and bountiful winter (epic snowfall), the sun is out and the hillside are green.   It's time to dust off the mountain bikes, golf clubs, and sandals, the mountain are calling.

Treasure Mountain Inn we recycle everything!

At Treasure Mountain Inn we are taking our recycling efforts beyond just our rooms and hallways.   While remodeling our North End exterior, we coordinated with one of our favorite meeting clients, Western Metals Recycling, to recycle all of the metal we removed.  The picture above shows us filling a 26 ton truck with the removed metals.   Most of the new balcony will be made of steel, and will utalize 90%+ recycled metal.

The final days of ski season for Park City

The end of winter is nigh… and spring biking is just around the corner.

An amazing winter is drawing to a close just the way it began, with piles and piles of snow.   Yesterday Deer Valley Mountain Resort closed the books on another great season.    There’s still one week left to ski Park City Mountain Resort, and it’s going to be a good one.   We have several feet of new snow, with another storm queuing up as I write.  Now is the time to get your last snow fix and start tuning your mountain bike in anticipation of summer.

Skiing fools welcome here!

Yeah, yeah.  We know.  It's April Fool's day (almost), but thanks to the 350+ inches of snow year-to-date, we're still skiing.  In fact, with all this white stuff lying around and falling from the sky, we'd be foolish if we WEREN'T skiing!

February Ski Report

It's mid-season in the Wasatch, and the snow conditions are outstanding!   After a January 'drought' we are enjoying a cold and snowy February.   Park City received nearly 30" this week (in town) and it's still snowing.   The powder is light, deep and easy to ski/ride.    The next two weeks look like a mixture of storms and sunshine--classic Utah weather!   With spring around the corner, it's the perfect time to plan a trip and get your 'powder' fix.

Is Slamdance Coming of Age?

Conceived in 1995 by a small group of filmmakers, the Slamdance Film Festival is hosted at the top of Main Street in the Treasure Mountain Inn each January concurrently with the internationally renowned Sundance Festival. Often cast as a more accessible alternative to Sundance, Slamdance boasts that its “sole mission is to nurture, support and showcase truly independent works. Their motto is “by Filmmakers for Filmmakers,” and they accept only low-budget, amateur filmmaker productions—full of grit and promise.

Slamdance 2011 Award Winners

The 2011 Slamdance Film Festival, which concluded Thursday with an Awards Ceremony at Treasure Mountain Inn, received a record number of over 5,000 submissions and programmed 83 films this year. 2011 marked the 17th anniversary of the Slamdance Film Festival, one of the few remaining film festivals whose sole mission is to support truly independent works from first-time filmmakers staying true to its mission of “by filmmakers, for filmmakers.”

Sundance/Slamdance 2011

It’s that time of year again when Park City transforms itself into a film-goers mecca. Sundance 2011 has kicked off and town is buzzing. Treasure Mountain Inn is once again hosting Slamdance with two large screening rooms and a filmmaker lounge on our lobby level. For the next 10 days town will be packed with movie-stars, entourages, filmmakers and revelers.
